Hello! I am so excited to have you be a part of the first Think & Tidy E-Course Beta group. I hope that as we go through this course, you’ll be able to change the way you think about your stuff so that you can effectively tidy your home.
I used to think it was pretty easy to keep my things tidy until I got married and had a baby and another and another. All of those babies and that husband came with a lot of stuff. We had our textbooks from college knick-knacks from adolescense, and, not to mention all of the gifts that the aunts and uncles and doting grandparents were pouring upon our children. It wasn’t long before all of the things soon became a curse rather than a blessing.

We had our textbooks from college knick-knacks from adolescense, and, not to mention all of the gifts that the aunts and uncles and doting grandparents were pouring upon our children. It wasn’t long before all of the things soon became a curse rather than a blessing.
We had to find a way to really get on top of that clutter. So, one day, I had a friend inspire me to go to the library and check out a stack of books all about simplifying your life and decluttering. My husband and I both read several books about this topic and we came away with a changed perspective.
We realized that the things that we wanted in our home were things that would support us in our life purposes and would help us fulfill our family’s purpose. Instead of organizing my stuff and just really shifting it around, I started to declutter heavily. We got rid of carload after carload of our stuff, and many of our friends even asked, “Are you moving?!” To which we’ve said, “No, we’re just decluttering!”
You may be excited to start decluttering, which I would encourage you to do if you have that motivation. But, for the purposes of this course, we will be focusing on your mindset for the first couple of units in order to really help you gain a solid foundation for decluttering.

Decluttering is personal, and, ultimately, you get to decide what you keep around. In order to get to the bottom of what you really want in your home, in unit one, we’ll establish your family values and help you create a family mission statement. In unit two, we’ll review some thoughts that make it tricky to declutter and find ways to change your thinking so that you can declutter effectively. In unit three, we’ll be evaluating your home and making a plan for decluttering. In unit four, you’ll get SASSY with your clutter as you learn an effective decluttering method and gain tips for each room. Lastly, in unit five, you’ll learn to maintain a clutter-free (or mostly clutter-free) home.
I look forward to combining all of my own personal experience, my experience, helping others declutter as well as my psychology background, to help you learn how to effectively change your mindset so you can declutter your stuff. As part of the course, you will tackle one of your worst spaces, but my main goal is to teach you a process which can be applied and reapplied as you continue to declutter your house in the months and years to come.
In addition to listening to the course, I encourage you to fill out the worksheets that go along with each lesson. As you do so, you will be able to shift your mindset and process things differently so that you can have a solid foundation for your decluttering journey.

In addition to that, I encourage you to track your progress, or share your progress, on our Think & Tidy Facebook where you can give and receive ideas, support and encouragement.
We will have four live zoom calls where you can ask questions and give input for future lessons. For all other feedback, including things that you thought weren’t so great, or the things that you think were awesome. please submit your feedback on each lesson page or directly to me via email. I look forward to improving this course, not only for you, but for others who’ll also be taking the course in the future.
Also, as part of the course, I am awarding a free Hum Making Planner to anyone who can complete the Think & Tidy challenge. The challenge goes as follows: take a before picture and (eventually) an after picture of your worst space (which we will choose in the course), and send me a testimonial and you will receive a code to get your free Hum Making Planner.
As you immerse yourself in this course, I hope that you will have a truly transformative experience. I can’t wait to see what we are able to do together. Let’s get started!
